Gordon & MacPhail Distillery Labels Linkwood 15y - 46%

Part of the G&M Discovery Labels range, this Linkwood was matured in a mix of first-fill and refill Sherry casks

Appearance: New gold, forms a thick line which falls as slow, thick legs

Nose: Stewed apples, California raisins, caramel sauce, gentle lemon and tangerine citrus notes and a touch of cinnamon

Palate: Thick, oily mouthfeel. Baked Bramley apples stuffed with sultanas, brown sugar, orange marmalade and a touch of cinnamon and ginger

Finish: Soft, tannic astringency. Dried fruit and milk chocolate, cinnamon and ginger linger

Summary: Linkwood is one of those distilleries really doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I’ve tried many over the years, and am always struck by how refined and elegant they feel. This is a beautifully balanced whisky, the influence of the sherry cask marries so well with the light fruitiness of the Linkwood spirit.

Current price is around £90, not exactly cheap but you do get a lot for your money.
