Deanston 18 - 46.3%

Fully matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels for 18 years before bottling at 46.3% without chill filtration or artificial colouring.

Tasting notes:

Appearance: New gold in colour, forms a thin line which beads before falling slowly as thick, oily legs

Nose: Light and floral, honeyed malt cereal, freshly mown grass, soft vanilla, a touch of petrichor and Gallia melon

Palate: Waxy with medium-full body. Sweet, creamy vanilla, sweet waxy honeycomb, orange and lemon citrus, barley sugar, crystallised ginger and black pepper

Finish: Medium length. Heather honey, ginger and a touch of drying, nutty oak

Overall: This is a really enjoyable whisky, whilst it may not be quite as complex as some 18 year old whiskies it still manages to exhibit all those waxy, malty, citrusy notes so typical of Deanston.

You don’t see many 18 year old whiskies for less than £100 these days, so if you’re looking for a good quality unpeated ex-Bourbon cask matured whisky this is well worth having a look at.
