Tasting Notes:

Appearance: New gold in colour, forms a thin line which falls slowly as thick, oily legs

Nose: Light and summery, sweet orchard fruit, lemongrass and a hint of fresh celery

Palate: Medium bodied, orchard fruit, grilled pineapple drizzled with runny honey, vanilla ice cream, lemon thyme, a hint of copper pennies and a mild lactic note

Finish: Soft brown sugar, tropical fruit coulis, honey, cinnamon and black pepper. Cooling menthol and slightly bitter candied Angelica come through at the close

Overall: This is one of those drams which could easily be dismissed by the lightness of the nose, but once it hits the palate it becomes something very different. It’s certainly not a one trick pony of a whisky, there’s plenty in there to make it interesting. Although it isn’t a whisky profile I would normally buy, I certainly wouldn’t turn down a dram if offered.

Priced currently at just under £62, decent value for a quality whisky.
