Mossburn Speyside - 46%
From the bottlers
A blend of Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whiskies which underwent a secondary maturation in Mossburn Cask Bill #2.
These were specially built Oloroso Sherry Butts with heavily charred virgin American Oak heads which enhance the richness, depth and spicy vanilla flavours.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale gold, forms a thin line which beads before slowly falling as thin, oily legs.
Nose: Fresh and floral, green apple, vanilla pod, orange peel, heather honey, and a subtle hint of tropical pineapple
Palate: Creamy, almost buttery mouthfeel. Stewed apple, crème pâtissière, Terrys milk chocolate orange, malted milk biscuits, honey, and a mild prickle of pepper
Finish: Quite short, with slightly drying nutty oak, malt, a hint of bitter hops and warming pepper spice.
Overall: A good, affordable blend, easy drinking without providing too much of a challenge. At a price of around £40 it comfortably sits in the daily drinker category rather than a special occasion whisky.
