Strathisla 10 - 53.4%

A bottling from Strathisla Distillery in Speyside from The Whisky Cellar Private Cellars Collection. Originally distilled in June 2012 and aged for 10 years in first fill bourbon barrels before bottling at 53.4% in February 2023. A limited run of only 254 bottles.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Straw coloured, forms a thin line which beads before falling as slow, thin legs.

Nose: Scottish tablet, vanilla, almond milk, coconut cream, lemon meringue.

Palate: Lemon meringue pie, glacé cherry, vanilla, a hint of honey and white pepper. Water brings out a note of cherryade.

Finish: Cherries and lemon, oak spice and mild astringency gradually develops.

Overall: Light, floral and sweet, a summer dram. A very pleasant whisky, especially with the addition of a little water to bring down the noticeable abv sharpness. Priced around the £75-80 mark, which seems a little on the high side for the age but it is a good quality whisky with limited availability.
