Easy Sipper North British 11 Year Old Single Grain - 46.4%

From the bottlers

The Easy Sipper - the brand was the 2020 ‘lockdown’ brainchild of owner Keith Bonnington, who imagined a sharing whisky that celebrated the reconnection of kindred souls after all social contact was temporarily put on hold nearly 3 years ago - this would be a sweet, easy-sipping dram for everyone to enjoy together. A love of late-1960s/early-70s psychedelia pop-culture led us to create a non-conventional whisky brand identity that wouldn’t look out of place on the front of a Grateful Dead or The Beatles album cover.

Matured in exclusively first-fill American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and produced in batches of around 500 bottles.

First-fill ex-bourbon barrels #317443, limited release of 554 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Pale gold, forms a thin line which beads before falling as thick, oily legs.

Nose: Zesty lemon, crisp yellow apple, flaked almonds and vanilla fudge.

Palate: Soft, creamy mouthfeel. Runny honey, sugar puffs, stewed stone fruit, nutty oak and Cadbury Golden Barrel chocolate caramels.

Finish: Burnt caramel, vanilla and honey linger, while black pepper brings mild warmth. Becomes more oaky with a herbal, vegetal note.

Summary: It’s a whisky which does exactly what it says on the tin. Easy drinking and unchallenging, it was designed to be shared with company and there’s nothing unpleasant or spiky about it that would stop it achieving it’s aim.

With a price just under £40, it’s one of those whiskies you could easily imagine would go down very well at a summer barbecue.
