Casks of Lindores Sherry - 49.4%
From the distillery website
The third “Casks of Lindores” bottling completes the set, and was matured exclusively in Oloroso Sherry Butts from the area around the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.
Packaged in the distinctive Lindores bottle and livery with colour specific base labels these bottlings are bottled at the distillery without chill filtration and at our Lindores bottling strength of 49.4%.
Tasting notes
Appearance: Tawny, forms a thick line which clings to the glass before very slowly falling as thick, oily legs.
Nose: Sticky dates, fig roll biscuits, milk chocolate, stewed prunes in vanilla custard, a touch of Demerara sugar.
Palate: Dried fruits, especially those sticky dates you only see at Christmas, dark chocolate covered hazelnuts and raisins, cinnamon, ginger and sharp black pepper. Addition of a few drops of water brings out notes of roast chestnuts and sultanas.
Finish: Medium, more dried fruit and a little nutty oak astringency.
Overall: It’s oily, luscious, full of character and ideal for this time of year. There are those sherry-inspired Christmas flavours in abundance, but toned down enough not to feel overwhelming. A highly enjoyable dram, bottled at a generous 49.4% and non-chill filtered. Currently priced at £55, in my opinion good value and well worth a look.
