Yellowstone Family Recipe - 50%

From the distillers..

This 6-year Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 100 proof, is made according to Stephen Beam’s Family recipe passed down for generations.

Tasting notes:

Appearance: Burnished gold, forms a thin line before slowly falling as thick, oily legs.

Nose: Grassy and herbal, petrichor, caramel, Battenburg cake, lemon citrus and a hint of new leather.

Palate: Dry oak, grassy, herbal lavender, vanilla, peanut skins, a hint of lemon citrus. Cinnamon and cloves bring spice.

Finish: Drying oak, lingering bitter herbs together with a musty, earthy, decaying wood note.

Summary: It’s unusual with plenty of enjoyable notes but that damp wood note on the finish really jarred with me. However, as always with reviews that’s only my opinion and my palate. It’s very different to many bourbons I’ve tried so I suspect it will be popular with bourbon enthusiasts looking to try something different.
