Aultmore 12 - 40% - AD Rattray
From the AD Rattray website
Exclusively bottled for our own whisky shop, our House Malts are enjoyable, easy drinking single malts. This House Malt is a 12 year old Aultmore single malt whisky bottled from a single bourbon cask with the strength reduced to 40% abv.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale gold, forms a thin line which beads before falling as slow, thick legs.
Nose: Asian pears, honeydew melon, lemon zest.
Palate: Ripe Asian pears, lemon zest, green grapes, coconut and vanilla ice cream, a hint of tobacco leaf and shortbread biscuits.
Finish: Quite long, vanilla, butterscotch toffee, coconut cream, lemon citrus, a hint of tobacco and mild white pepper spice.
Overall: Summery, light and delicate. Plenty of fruit notes along with typical bourbon cask influence, albeit subtle. A bit of a shame the abv is only 40% but it’s a really pleasant, easy drinking whisky nonetheless, and well priced at £35.
