Timorous Beastie 10 - 46.8%

Notes from Douglas Laing:

Beautifully aged, Timorous Beastie 10 Years old is proudly offered without colouring or chill-filtration. Bottled at 46.8% alcohol strength, Timorous Beastie 10 Years Old's tasting notes include spiced autumnal fruit, complemented by honey, cereal and orange.

Nose: Very sweet as if sugar and syrup have been added to spiced autumnal fruit.

Palate: Now with honey, the gentlest spices and a distinct cereal content.

Finish: Honeycomb and clove studded orange.

No added colour, no chill filtration.

Tasting notes:

Appearance: Pale straw colour, forms a thin line which beads and falls as thick, oily legs.

Nose: Orchard fruit, vanilla pod, icing sugar, honey soaked baklava.

Palate: Honeyed breakfast cereal bars, vanilla, Lyon’s Golden Syrup, stewed orchard fruits, cinnamon warmth,.

Finish: Long, caramelised orange, honey and cinnamon spice.

Summary: Thicker, more oily mouthfeel than the core bottling. Syrupy sweetness, spicy, and a lovely orangey finish, overall very enjoyable. A few drops of water add a little creaminess to the mouthfeel and reduce the spiciness a little.

Current price is £45, which feels like decent value for money for a 10 year old small batch release of this quality.
