Further Information
The fourth in a series of sister casks released in our Cask Collection through the years. We are overseeing (and sharing) the development of this quirky distillate from punchy, early promise, to luxurious, fruity exuberance.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Deep gold, beads quickly before falling as very slow, thin legs.

Nose: Vanilla, caramel, sweet fudge, orchard fruits, dried orange peel and a hint of coconut. A malty note comes through with more time in the glass.

Palate: Apricot and nectarine, pineapple, butter pastries, honey, fresh lime, vanilla, cinnamon and a little chilli heat. Water adds more creaminess and a tobacco leaf note.

Finish: Slightly drying, cinnamon Danish pastries linger to be followed by lemon zest and tobacco leaf.

Summary: I’ve been fortunate to be able to try quite a few core range Fettercairn bottlings recently, including the excellent 16 year old Batch 2. This independent bottling is right up there with the best of them, the typical Fettercairn tropical fruit notes are very much in evidence whilst the extra abv and lack of chill filtration brings more body. For me, it’s slightly alcohol forwards and benefits from a little water.

Another one from the AD Rattray Cask Collection, this is currently priced at £70. Whether you’re already Fettercairn fan or if you enjoy fruity whiskies, this is a whisky which is well worth seeking out.
