Milk & Honey Elements Red Wine Cask - 46%

From the distillery website

The M&H Elements series is a composition of flavours and aromas assembled from meticulously selected casks that bring forward characters enhanced by the cask's wood, origin and history.

Each expression in this series is matured in a variety of hand-picked, superlative and quality oak casks, culminating in a beautiful natural colour, impressive flavours and a well-balanced single malt.

Ex-red wine casks were sourced from Israel's finest wineries for this part of the Elements trilogy. The Mediterranean's climate, variety of soil types, hot sunny days and cool nights bring a spicy and unique flavour to Israeli wine - and in turn our casks. The wine casks used in the Elements Red Wine are a celebration of local terroir, creating a floral single malt with notes of dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Honey gold with a light pinkish hue, forms a thin line which falls as slow, thin legs.

Nose: Vanilla, red fruits, sweet, slightly floral.

Palate: Soft and creamy, sweet raspberry fruitiness which gradually moves to darker berries, dark chocolate, cinnamon adds spice.

Finish: Slightly dry with cinnamon spice.

Summary: A really enjoyable malt, the red wine cask adding more depth to the fruit notes seen in the Classic together with a little tannic astringency. Currently priced at close to £50, but you could easily be forgiven for thinking this was a more expensive whisky.
