Dalmore 2002 Vintage - 45.6%
Matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and hand-selected aged Paez Amoroso Sherry casks.
The Whisky Makers' view; Bergamot, blood orange, candied fruits. Old English marmalade, figs, crushed nuts, icing sugar, marzipan and Colombian coffee.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Honey gold, forms a thin line which beads and falls as slow, thin legs.
Nose: Citrus fruit, vanilla, mocha, malt, caramel, green apple and a slight earthiness.
Palate: Tobacco, cinnamon latté, Seville orange, dark chocolate Toblerone, crystallised ginger.
Finish: Tobacco leaf, dark chocolate orange and warm ginger
Summary: Rich, warm, inviting, and complex. The mouthfeel is luxurious, almost decadent, and is followed by layer upon layer of beautifully balanced notes. Sadly at £350 it’s way out of my league, but if you’re in the market for a high quality whisky and money is no object then you could do a lot worse than this one.
