Dalmore 12 - 40%
From the distillery
An outstanding single malt matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and finessed in rare and aged oloroso sherry casks.
The Aroma: Citrus fruits, chocolate and aromatic spices.
On the Palate: Seville oranges, dried fruits and hints of vanilla pod.
Finishing Notes: Roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Tawny gold, forms a thick line which falls quickly as slow, thick legs.
Nose: Orange peel, raisins, vanilla, dark chocolate.
Palate: Dried fruit, candied peel, baking spices, vanilla, milk chocolate orange appears late.
Finish: Mocha with an extra shot of espresso, orange peel, vanilla and dried fruit lingers.
Summary: Christmas cake meets coffee meets chocolate orange. The nose, mouthfeel and palate are all decent but not outstanding, there is a strong feeling a higher abv and no chill filtration would take this whisky to a much higher level. Currently priced a little below £50, as such it’s a good introduction to the Dalmore range although there are better whiskies out there at this price range,
