Benromach 21 - 43%
From the distillery
Matured in the finest hand-selected first-fill oak casks, our 21 year old single malt delivers sweet Sherry aromas. Subtle spice, Seville orange and raspberry follow with a soft smoky finish.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Burnished gold, forms a thin line which falls as slow, thin legs.
Nose: Orange peel, almond, black liquorice.
Palate: Seville orange marmalade, red fruits, raisins, sultanas, baking spices. Slightly drying.
Finish: Rich fruit, citrus, gentle smoke and mild oaky astringency.
Summary: Beautifully rich and complex, well balanced and just enough sherry to add depth without overpowering. To say this whisky impressed me would be a major understatement, at around £125 it’s not cheap but this fits the bill of a luxury malt for special occasions very nicely.
This sample was part of a 5 dram tasting pack, purchased from The Spirits Embassy and used for a tasting session with Distillery Manager, Keith Cruickshank.
