Ezra Brooks Straight Rye Whiskey - 45%

From the Ezra Brooks website

This whiskey is 51% rye, 45% corn, 4% malt, and 100% genuine. Bottled at an honest 90 proof, it’s a real straight shooter.

Hints of chocolate, leather, vanilla, and spicy grains, balanced by slightly sweet and oaky tones.

Tasting notes:

Appearance: Coppery gold, viscous, forms a thick line before falling as slow, thick legs

Nose: Quite closed, hints of vanilla, green apples, caramel and a gentle waft of menthol.

Palate: Creamy white chocolate, vanilla fudge, ginger spice and a hint of cooling mint

Finish: Slightly savoury with a gradual build up of peppery spice, vanilla lingers on the palate

Summary: This was my favourite from the recent Lux Row tasting session. A gentle, easy drinker with enough character and spice to make it interesting. At the current price of £30.70 it’s well worth seeking out either as a sipper or, as I suspect, a great cocktail base.
