Ezra Brooks Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 40%

From the Ezra Brooks website:

It starts with genuine Kentucky sour mash. Then it’s aged the old-fashioned way, charcoal filtered and bottled at an honest 90 proof.

Ingredients: Corn, rye and barley.

Aroma: Caramel and vanilla.

Palate: Spicy with a hint of chocolate and cinnamon.

Finish: Smooth and warm.

Tasting notes:

Appearance: Burnished gold, quite viscous, forms a thick line before falling as slow, thick legs.

Nose: Quite closed, hints of vanilla, citrus fruit and coconut toasted teacakes.

Palate: Light, honey sweetness and vanilla, shades of tobacco leaf, maple syrup and a little roasted pineapple.

Finish: Short and spicy, slightly charred, roast pineapple and bitter chocolate, plain popcorn.

Summary: At a retail price of £29, you would be excused for not expecting too much from this whiskey. What you actually get is a no-frills, easy drinking bourbon which works well as either a sipper or mixed in an Old Fashioned.
