Aber Falls (Autumn 2021 Release)
This amber gold whisky has an aroma of vanilla and toffee, candied citrus fruits, and fig and sultana; all balanced with a gentle hint of clove. On the palate, experience sweet sherry notes with dried fruit and spice, complemented by forest fruit flavours, creamy malt, nuts, dark chocolate and espresso. Enjoy a long and lingering dried fruit finish with a subtle sense of spice.
Appearance: Old gold, forms a broad line before falling as slow, thick legs.
Nose: Red apples, grape juice, citrus fruit, caramel and vanilla.
Palate: Creamy mouthfeel, orange zest, candied peel, fresh mango, sultanas, vanilla and caramel fudge together with hints of malt, tobacco leaf, coffee bean and clove oil warmth.
Finish: Medium length and creamy, dried fruit and vanilla lingering on the palate with the tobacco leaf as the orange peel adds a slight bitterness.
Summary: The current price for this is around £26, so any review should take this into account. It’s a reasonably pleasant drink either neat or with a little water, and the fruity orange zest notes will certainly add to its usefulness as a mixer. It’s not deep, complex or punchy, but what it does do is provide an easy drinking experience without breaking the bank. Probably not one I’d buy again, but at this price point it will have a lot of repeat customers.
