From the distillery website

The Jewel in the Crown of the SPEY range. Selected from some of the oldest casks in our warehouse, it is a rich and powerful bottling showing great texture and flavour, with a long smooth finish. Only available in limited quantities it serves as the high point in the range. Available in wooden presentation case.

Tasting Note

"Deep rich amber gold in colour. Aromas of toffee, dried fruits and oak leading on to a smooth creamy texture.  Flavours of butterscotch, warm spices and more oak yield to a long silky smooth finish which lingers on and on. A luscious smooth and regal whisky, the Jewel in the Crown."

Tasting notes:

Appearance: Deep amber, develops a thin line quickly falling as thin legs

Nose: Old oak furniture, Russet apples, toffee sweetness, vanilla, raisins and sultanas. Beautiful.

Palate: Creamy mouthfeel with an initial sharp bite of white pepper which gradually fades to leave almond butter toffee, cinnamon spice and sultanas.

Finish: Long and lingering, old oak with a little tannic astringency, worn leather and a hint of salted dark chocolate.

Summary: This is a real joy, with a nose you would never tire of and a rich, creamy palate that lives up to it. At £150 it’s certainly not cheap, but it does have that feeling of indulgence and maybe fits the criteria as ‘that bottle that only comes out on special occasions’.
